Review: Affordable Matte Lip Products Battle

Hi there! I know.. It’s been about 3 weeks since my previous post, and I want to apologize for that because I’ve been quite busy for the exams lately :(. Now here I wanna do a review and comparison between these 2 most famous yet affordable matte lip products that has been talk about on the media these days, which are ColourPop Lippie Stix and NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream.

I pick 2 colors that pretty comparable from each brand. One is inspired by Kylie Jenner's famous 90's lip trend which is natural mauvy nude color and the other one is inspired by summer 2015 beauty trend's flaming lips which is dramatic dark red with cool undertone. Both of the colors are really compliment my skin tone (medium complexion with warm undertone).

ColourPop LippieStix (Brink & Bichette)

      Brink                                        Bichette

Price : ± Rp. 140.000

What it Says :

Brink: “A warm dusty taupe in a matte finish. Inspired by the insta-famous Kylie Jenner lip.”
Bichette: “Deep red wine in a matte finish. Boys will be fawn-ing over you.” *LOL

“We’ve made it easy for you – every Lippie Stix has a matching Lippie Pencil that was designed to match its partner perfectly. However, we’re not trying to be a bossy pants and tell you creative lovelies what to do. So, if you want to create an Ombre lip look or something, have fun mixing and matching & do your thang! MATTE FINISH Full coverage, superrr long wearing, ultra-comfortable & seriously loaded with pigment in a matte finish.”

What I Love About it :
The packaging is pretty unique and simple. It has that skinny, pointy, arched whatever lipstick applicator, so you can have more control on the application especially for the corner of your lips and your cupids bow. It’s matte, but it’s not drying at all. It’s super smooth & creamy and OMG! I have no words to describe on how pigmented and opaque this product is. Get and try it yourself and you’ll be mesmerized by the pigmentation and the smoothnes. :”)

What I Hate About it :
It’s not that long lasting. As I have done eating, the lipstick's fade off easily so I have to re-apply it afterwards. Maybe it’s because I just wear the lipstick itself and didn’t wear it with the lip pencils that they recommended.

Overall Thoughts :
It would  be perfect if it has more of the staying power on the lipstick itself, so you don’t have to pay double for it with the lip pencil too. Because it's almost perfect, I rate it 4 hearts out of 5.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream (Cannes & Monte Carlo)

       Cannes                                      Monte Carlo

Price : ± Rp. 95.000

What it Says :
Neither lipstick nor lip gloss, this matte lip cream is a new kind of lip color that goes on silky smooth and sets to a matte finish. Soft Matte Lip Cream is surprisingly durable and, unlike some matte lipstick formulas, also moisturizing.
• What it is: Highly pigmented, matte lip cream
• What it does: Creates various matte lip looks
• Why we love it: Delightfully creamy and lightweight.

What I Love About it :
You can apply this product easily with it's doe-tip applicator. It is pigmented but not as pigmented as ColourPop. It’s feels velvety and once it sets, it does set and it won’t go anywhere even though it’s kinda fade away after I done eating which is  okay ‘cause I don’t have to always re-apply it afterwards.

What I Hate About it :
None? LOL

Overall Thoughts :
Although it’s not as pigmented as ColourPop, I still love the pigmentation, lasting power, and the texture that this product provides. 5 hearts out of 5!

So, natural vs dramatic, which one do you prefer? do you like ColourPop or NYX better? Se you again soon makeup seekers! :)

Tips: How to Trim & Groom Your Eyebrows

Hi! Maybe some of you notice that I made a promise from my 2nd post that I’ll post something about my eyebrows soon in this blog. So, here it is! I’ve been growing my eyebrows for the past 6-7 weeks to do this thing. I wanna show you how I trim & groom my eyebrows with this 5 steps that you can do it yourself at home! Because personally, I don’t trust other people to do this thing. So, these are the things that you’ll need:

Compact Mirror (1), Spoolie & Angled Brush (2), Tweezer (3),  Grooming Scissor (4)
Brow Razor  (5), Concealer or White Eyeliner (6), and Brow Powder (6)

Eyebrows are the frame for your face, and eyebrows are one thing that can make
the most amount of difference to your face if you re-shape them.
Okay so let’s get started!

1.    Find an inspiration

Last month I tried to change my eyebrow shape by lowering my eyebrow's arch to calming down my "bitchy resting face", but it turned out really weird on me hahaha so I decided to just re-define my natural eyebrow shape like I usually did, and kinda re-shape them between ”sexy thick" & "attractive thick" shape as you can see on the picture charts from google here that I recreate.

Or, you can find a celebrity or someone who has beautiful eyebrows that you really like. My top 2 Eyebrow Queens are Lily Collins and Cara Delevingne, but their eyebrows seems very impossible for me to copy, because my eyebrows are not as thick as theirs :( but personally the other inspirations for me are Emma Watson's, Keira Knightley's, and Camilla Belle's stunning eyebrows.

2.    Brush the brow hair to neatly flatten them

Tada! Here’s my naked eyebrows. I know, they look awful and super messy or should I say “rumput liar” look-like or whatever you wanna call it. hmm okay then brush them with a spoolie so you can clearly see the shape of your eyebrows and the direction of your hair growth.

3.    “Design” your brows

Now here’s the most important step for a beginner. Getting a concealer that matches your skin tone will work the best to outline them, because you can conceal the excess eyebrows and kinda see what your brows will look like before you pluck them, and you can play around with it until you find your "perfect" eyebrow shape. Here I’m using the new NYX Wonder Pencil in shade medium that I bought online for 85k. If you don’t have one, white eyeliner works fine too!

4.    Pluck, trim, and shave them

If you’re happy with your “design”, you can pluck, trim, and shave the excess hair by using:

·      Tweezer: Plucking the hair away that the concealer/liner has covered up (pull in the direction where your hair’s growing)

·      Grooming Scissor: Trim the strands of the hair that touch the concealer/liners (I’m using my manicure scissor here LOL it works fine too btw. Any scissor will do :”) )

·      Brow Razor: You can shave the excess hair that you don’t like around your eyebrows (work towards the opposite direction where your hair’s growing) * if necessary

5.    Last step, fill them up!

Spoolie is your best friend when it comes to eyebrows, brush your eyebrow hair with a spoolie until you happy with the shape and lightly start to fill the gaps with an angled brush that you’ve dipped with your favorite brow powder. Here I’m using Wet n Wild brow kit in ash, super love it!! This product is super pigmented so all you need is just a tiny dab of it and its only 99k! Crazy right?? Ok. Focus! Then I apply the wax by just using my finger to give it a little shine for more natural finish and finally brush them again until you’re happy with it!

So this is the final look of my eyebrows! Sorry for this super complicated post haha. I don’t know about you, but I like mine this way better. And yeah, they’re not symmetrical because like everybody says “remember, eyebrows are sisters not twins”. Haha Okay then, I hope you find this post helpful and see you again soon!
